Magazine advertisement

These are all images of magazine covers of all different genres, these are are old and new music. i know this because some of the magazines are black and white which indicates that they are old. If i look at the covers i can clearly identify what genre each one is. for example the hammer magazine i can clearly identify the this is heavy metal.















Research: Existing 


In order to give me an indication of what music magazines feature, I have completed this table indicating what 5 different magazines have one them. All of them stated their artists name and their egos. All of the magazines had a barcode on them for when they are being purchased in a shop. Tour dates weren't very popular on music magazine ads unless they were promoting a tour. There wasn't many reviews on the magazine ads, this may be due to it being a short and snappy way of getting attention and recognition for the artist and album.  



Planning: ideas


This is our first idea for our music magazine ad. From my previous research I have found out that most magazine ads have a barcode, the artists name, the album name and the date that the album is out on. I have also discovered that it is popular for the artists to feature in a large picture in the background on in the centre of the ad. This draws attention to what the ad is about and which artists album is being released. I have come up with the idea that the name of the album will be on a square black box to make the text stand out more to the audience. The colour scheme I have put with this design are very calm and cool. I think that the colours light grey and blue would best go with  Calum Scott music magazine ad as it matches the music that h produces and it makes the picture of him stand out. 
This is our second idea for our music magazine ad, the picture of our artist will feature at the side, it will be a side view picture that is very detailed and the background colours, again, will be cool toned. This, again, is to match the type of music Calum Scott produces. This ad has a barcode, the album title, a picture of the artist, the release date of the album and the artists name. I have put this on my design as from my previous research it shows that these features are particularly popular. The artists name will be in bold writing that is whit with a black outline. However, if this doesn't stand out or look professional when being created then the colours may have to be adjusted.


Final Idea

Overall, I believe that the first design is the most suitable for our music magazine ad, I believe this because in the background will be a large picture of our artists with his name over the top of the picture. I believe these colours also match the type of music our artists produces. The text being  in the centre will catch the readers eye which  makes stand out which is what we want. I believe that this is most professional design that I have created. The name of the album is in a black box to make it stand out more so therefore, again, I believe this is the best design. We will create our music magazine ad using photoshop to get the best possible results among it look professional and clean. 



Production of our Music Magazine Ad:

This is the picture that we have decided to use for our music magazine ad, it is a picture that clearly views the artist looking sad and down to represent the newly related single that is featured on the album 'Dancing On My Own'. 


This is a screenshot of when we were playing around with the texts that are going to be featured on the ad, we wanted fonts that stood out and were bold however not too old that it made our work look clustered. We changed our plan from the original decided plan as we believed that all of the text looked better at the top of the page. This made the important information stand out more and catch the readers eye. 

We then added more important context that needed to be featured on our Music Magazine Ad such as what the album was called, when it was being released and what new single features on it. We also thought it would be a good idea to feature a quote from a well-known and trusted music magazine. On the bottom, we also decided to add in the website of the artist in order to give the reader extra information on him. This website features merchandise that fans may want to purchase so therefore this ad is a good way of promoting this. 

Final Design


 
This is our final design for our music magazine ad, we believe that this is the most professional and informative design. The fonts we have used make the important text stand out making sure that it is clear when the album is coming out, what the album is called and who the artist is. It also features a positive quote on the album from a well-trusted magazine, Q. The picture feature on the centre of the ad is also linked in with a shot within our music video. This represents what the song is about and what kind of effect the topic has on the artist. This final design is very different to our decided plan. When we played around with the text and other images, we decided that the text looked better at the top of the page with other text that wasn't so important at the bottom of the page. The text we used for the title of the album and artist is bold however not too bold that it takes away the main focus on the image of the artist.

Target Audience feedback:

We have shown this to our specific target audience and they believed that this would catch their eye if they were to be going through a magazine. We received positive feedback from our target audience. They said that the colours of the background used were very appealing to them, they believed the it looked very professional with the layout we have decided to use with the text getting smaller at the top of the page.
