me as a consumer of music

Music plays a huge role in my child hood; it gets me through tough and stressful times. Depending on my mood will determine what genre of music I will listen to.

The genres of music I like to listen to are hip hop and house music, this is because these are the genres of music that are played at house parties, which is what happens most weekends in our generation. The artist that I enjoy listening to the most at this current time is Drake but I only like very minimal amounts of his songs but the ones I do like are massive hits.

The charts influenced my decision for listening to these genres because they are played on the radio on YouTube. The songs that are played in the charts are the most popular with everyone as these songs are the most played songs that are higher up in the charts. My friends because of what they listen to also influence me.

The genres of music I hate the most is heavy metal, this is because it s to loud and you cant even understand what the lyrics are saying, it is also it is seen as being a gothic genre. Another genre I do not like is opera, this is because it is to slow and high pitch which over time can become very annoying.

I listen to music in various different ways, I use spotify, which is a music streaming application that I pay for on a monthly basis. I also use YouTube, this is a website were the artist’s first release their new songs so that they can start to build an audience. When I am my car I use the radio to listen to my songs, the only problem with this is that you do not determine what song you listen to because it is played by a DJ in a studio. Music channels on the TV is what I also use but on a very minimal basis this is because it is just the charts and you may  not like some of the songs being played on the program.

I do still buy CD’s to use in my car but I find it easier just to play it on my phone and plug in an AUX cable to play it through the speakers of the car. This also help to keep safe while driving because you do not have to pick your phone up while driving which is against the law.
